Hi everyone. Sorry for not updating my blog. My Dad has passed away on 22nd July 08 at 1.17pm, that would very much explain my absence from school. The funeral will be held later in the morning, at 11am. You can also see my Dad in the Orbituary Section of Straits Times/Wan Bao.
As we go through this hectic and busy lifestyle, we can never realize that we've never treated our parents right, as in 100% respectful, helpful and thoughtful. I who am going through this life changing phase would like to advice all my dear friends out there, that no matter how much you dislike the way your parents teach you, interact with them like there won't be a tomorrow. That would be the same for any of your friends or relatives. For parents, a simple "I love you" every day would be good enough, because you will never know what will happen. I DO regret for the fact that 2 days before he passed on I wasn't able to spend time with him, and was even in an indirect cold war with him.
My Dad was a man who will never regret living such a wonderful life. He gained citizenship by serving the army, so that he could marry my mum. He had many friends and cadets under him whom he treated like sons. He was a master parachuter, so he had a life full of adventures. Went through survivor camps which required him to eat animals of the forests for food. He was a Commando (best of the best army men) that taught many OCS cadets. Not only was he a dedicated officer, he was a dutiful father who cared for us more than anyone. He just didn't put them into words.
He passed away pretty suddenly because of the fact that the day before he was still able to eat and sit up. He was peaceful as he went away, no pain...
