My message for my dearest band members: Hey people. Time really passed quickly, and i really enjoyed the days we had together as one CCA. I think all the best times i had are spent with all of you. The joy of playing music, the fun, and all the sadness, this can never be described in words (like you know, music). Yes yes. Everyone was sad becoz we got silver for SYF, but look on the bright side. We managed to maintain our standard even thou the world music standard has gone way up (same goes for SYF judging criteria). Comparing with other schools. Those who got gold, they dropped to silver, same standard as us. So it DOES mean that we r on par with them, and we r as good as the usual gold standard. Moreoever, it OSO means that those who got gold but dropped to BRONZE, we r BETTER. So cheer up and move on. Like it's the end of the world if we dun get wad we want.
Now to face reality. There could be many reasons we couldn't get gold. We screwed up some technical parts (which r oso quite major), there were TWO gold bands in front of us, or we didn't have enough direction at the end of the piece. If u dun quite understand, i told u, music can't be described by words. But PLEASE, i do really beg u, DO NOT BLAME THE CONDUCTOR. In fact, we should THANK him. For putting in his utmost hardwork. If u compare him with 2 years ago, he really improved on how to make us understand how to create the overwhelming feeling that no one can get. Besides, he got a brass instructor to guide the brasses. The best part, he made a wish about trying not to scold us all and he did try. Sec 4s should know, he scolded almost every practice 2 years ago. If there are people who still dun understand him, they should not be the band members. And if those not in the band who says anything bad about our instructor, dun give a damn. ^^
By the way, if u're still unhappy and feels that it's not fair for us to get that kinda results, then think about whether u've put in ur ultimate best. If yes, then y sad? That's the judging criteria, NOT UR FAULT. If u think that u dun deserve to get onli a silver, then WAKE UP. How many practices do we have a week? How many hours per practice? When did we start to have 3 practices a week? When were we able to have full attendance? I know it's not within our control, everyone has their own schedule, but compared with other bands who didn't meet their target although they practiced from mid afternoon to 9pm EVERYDAY, do they deserve it? So please think ON THE BRIGHT SIDE and dun be unhappy anymore. How? Well simple. Even stupid ppl like me can settle this. We dun need so many practices, becoz we r good. We dun get full attendance, becoz we r good. We had 3 practices a week at the last minute, becoz we r good. BUT if we were to put all the elements into good use, we may have scored a gold or even gold with honour IF THE STANDARDS WEREN'T THAT HIGH.
All in all, in conclusion, therefore, thus, hence, i conclude that after much elaboration, it has always been someone/thing's fault. ~The Judging Criteria~
Don't be sad as life has to go on. However, memories stay. We may not be the batch that made the change, but we should be happy that it didn't change too. =)
