Oh wow. We had our Flag Day on 20th Jan 07. Helped Darul Ihsan Orphanage. The day before i was thinking "ah ha... 2nd time going to ask for donations, but this time without my mum. Shit man. I dunno how to approach ppl." However, today, i approached ONE person! Who didn't donate. -.- But who cares. At least i asked. Hahaha.7.30am was reporting time at Queenstown library (Now that's very early!) and as usual, i was late. Not because my dad couldn't find the way, but because of bad prediction of timing. Yea. Purely a lil mistake. Heck care. I wasn't the latest anyway. :PYAY! Set off with a complimentary $2 for food or if not, donate it. Lol. The tin can was SUPER BIG SIZED (Maybe it was to make us feel bad that we didn't fill it up. :S Not a simple task.) Anyhow, we walked towards the Queenstown MRT station, giving Regina and Jia Yi their first donors (Oh ya, i went with Regina, Goh Jia Yi and Hamidah.) Up the escalator we went and look who's there! Nicholas!! And he donated 2 bucks to me and to Regina. How very generous. LoL. (Nicholas win liao. Appear in my blog. XD ) Decided where we wanna get donors from, and it was the fantastic Orchard Road. We thot that we wun see any GESSians there, and yea we didn't, BUT SIX other schools r helping the same organization. We can't just take donors away from them since we r on the same side. Leaving us with no choice, we walked... and walked... and walked... till we reached Civic Plaza (Or izzit City plaza? So confusing.) for breakfast at Mac. Ate and chatted and pictures were taken. Oh crap. My back ached. Hello. I carried my school bag having clothes and my math tuition homework inside, standing and walking for hours. It's not that i'm complaining, but how stupid could i be when i know i wun have the time to do homework. I'm not THAT hardworking yet. After breakfast, we went into Tangs basement 1 as the outside was filled with even more enthusiastic students trying to get some change to be donated by the rushing citizens. AH!!! A perfect spot. Why didn't the others think of the other underpass? The 4 of us stood there, 3 of us not saying a word except Hamidah who chiong-ed for the approaching tactic. Of course, i was still standing there, not saying a word. Just smiled. Dumb smile. That's wad the others commented. Hahaha! (Why? Coz i had my own tactic too. U wanna donate, u come to me. I won't bother u. Just a dumb smile trying to say "have a nice day." Oh yes... Quite a while has passed and the traffic seemed to respond. Some stood beside me, trying to get their wallets out (and truthfully saying i love my spot), *tong* in the coins went. Some gave notes. Very generous. Oh ya. I realized that CHILDREN love to donate! "Mummy mummy i wanna donate!" <--- Some weird example. U dun see Singaporean children saying that! They just pull the bottom of their parents' and expect them to know wad they r thinking which is "mummy/ daddy i wanna play put in the coins!" They r in love with the *TONG* sound. Forgive them. They r just curious. ^^ Besides, they made their parents feel good that their children has kind hearts. Well it's a fact, they do. Time passed and Regina wanted to eat her food (she didn't eat when we were), so the 3 of us spreaded, giving each other emotion signs every now and then. Something like "=) Doing great here." Then where was this charismatic woman who came to me and *tonged* the coins in. This was exactly wad she said "Oh wow. The can is giving out sounds of emptiness in there. Maybe u should stand in the middle of the way." Yea i didn't give a single reply. Just a thank u. Coz i was there thinking: So do u mean that i'm not good at approaching (which is a fact) or Singaporeans r not compassionate enough? Hey! If they aren't, u wun hear the echo. Coz everything inside r notes. Which is hardly believed. HAHAHA. So we went back at 1, took more pictures and done. We were off. Regina and I went to play 4 hours of lan (break record liao). Well that's the whole purpose of asking her to go for the morning session ya. Haha.Wait... This entry has not ended. I know it's wordy. But there r many lessons to learn from this Flag Day lor.Do not approach ppl who r:1. Carrying a load full of stuff (U can't expect them to take out their wallets)
2. Listening to MP3, whether it's loud or not (That's wad they r trying to mean: don't disturb me)
3. Couples - hate disturbances too (Chinese translation: 2 persons world)
4. Teenagers - they will feel that it's their parents' money (that's the onli time when they think about that) and they shouldn't spend it "unnecessarily". Lol.5. Frowning (Obviously they r in a bad mood ya? Go ask them, if u wanna get cursedOk lar... It wasn't so bad afterall. We came to realize alotta things that r quite saddening and happifying. LOL. Fine. I go. =D
